The Life of Shinke

Doomsday

Posted on: May 21, 2011

So if you haven’t heard, today, according to Harold Camping, is supposed to be the beginning of the end. The day of rapture when God‘s people are taken up into heaven and the rest left to suffer for five months before the ultimate end of the world.

Now obviously this theory is a bust as it’s now the 22nd in Australia and other parts of the world and we’re all still here. No earthquake occurred to resurrect the souls that had already passed on and no global disaster has ensued.

While everyone is off having a laugh at this man I feel kind of sorry for him. I mean he must be crushed by the fact that something he believed in so profoundly was wrong. But that’s the price you pay for playing the prediction game.

I wish people would just stop making predictions. I mean it’s not just him there have been tons of predictions about when the end will be. There was 1989, Y2K and the looming 2012 among others.

This does nothing to help Christianity. All it does is to push non-believers further away from the truth. They’re acting like the boy who cried wolf. If every couple of years someone tells you the world is going to end at some point you’re going to stop believing them and everything they say.

Now, do I believe God will return for his people?

Yes!

Do I believe someone will be able to pinpoint the day and the hour?

No!

God is going to come in his own time, in his own way and all you have to do is make sure you’re ready. It’s as simple as that.

The rapture could happen today, tomorrow, ten million years from now. If you’re ready it doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t.

People need to stop trying to predict when the world is going to end and just start preparing themselves for their inevitable end.

We’re all going to die, there’s no way around that and there is no repentance in death. So if we focus on getting ready before we die instead of worrying about when the rapture will be, then we’ll be fine.

So let’s get ready together. 🙂
